Video Content
Below is a finished video for a script I wrote for the software company StudioBinder. I pitch content relevant to their audience and brand, then research, draft, and revise the final AV script that is sent to their content creators to record, edit, and publish on YouTube.
Educational Content
Click on the thumbnails below to see samples of some of my more recent and popular workshops. I research and write all of the content for each workshop independently and design the presentations using Canva. Each workshop is presented live, recorded through Zoom, edited with Adobe Premiere, and uploaded to the departmental website with Kaltura. Each year, I present dozens of workshops on a variety of academic, professional, and creative writing topics. You can see a complete list of my workshops here.
I created this workshop in Winter 2022 in response to the growing number of students interested in writing novels. It focuses on the most common characteristics of Young Adult Fiction, discusses tropes and clichés, and reviews short passages from famous novels to illustrate main points.
This workshop was created upon request of the film department to introduce students to the fundamentals of formatting screenplays. It covers the basics of formatting, common exceptions, and uses examples from the original screenplay for (500) Days of Summer.
I present this commonly requested workshop for a variety of classes to help students from any major and at any stage of their career find fresh and engaging ways to tell their story, showcase their skills, and stand out to potential employers. I wrote all of the sample creative cover letters included in this presentation. Click here to preview the workshop video.
This popular workshop is attended by a wide variety of students interested in writing for animation, film, sequential art, video games, and other mediums. It explores the relationships character, plot, setting, and theme have with dialogue, and includes numerous activities and examples I created specifically for this workshop. Here is a preview.
Designed to deliver the most common writing advice I share during individual consultations, this workshop focuses on practical and applicable advice to help writers at all levels understand what makes good writing and how they can achieve it.
My most popular workshop to date, this workshop was attended by over 70 students and discusses antagonists and their function in story. I break down how they are different from villains and cover their common functions and key features. Click here to see a sample of the workshop video.
Web Content & Design
One of my more significant projects over the past year was the creation of a new website for the Writers’ Studio. I partnered with educational technology to build the site in Blackboard, designed the look and layout of the entire site, and organized all of the content onto six tabs with over 10 pages to make materials easy to find and share. Based on the site’s success, I helped fast-track the production of a sister site launched last fall, and I update both websites quarterly. The site is only accessible by university members, but you can preview select pages below. I also designed this website and blog from scratch using wix. You're welcome to check it out too!

Professional Writing
Outside of the promotional and educational content I create, I also write reports, analyses, proposals, and organizational materials each year. Below are two administrative writing samples for yearly performance reviews and objective summaries.
Editing Samples
As an editor, I know it's my job to help writers achieve their big picture purpose while also getting all the little details right, so I provide comments on clarity, organization, and tone to make sure you're meeting your audience's expectations. But I also catch typos and pay attention to whether or not you're using the oxford comma, putting one or two spaces after a period, and make sure you're getting your hyphens, dashes, and emdashes right. Please review the documents below to get a sense of my editorial approach.
Testimonials
Over the years, I’ve completed thousands of individual consultations, helping screenwriters prepare scripts to shoot or submit to competitions, creatives across disciplines hone professional materials, and college students from multiple majors complete a wide variety of written projects. Throughout this work, my goal has always been to not only correct mistakes but make people more capable and confident writers. Below are select samples of the feedback I've received.
"I want to say that you helped me craft an incredible essay where I was able to tell my story in the most effective way possible. You have impacted my writing in such a way that I feel confident your advice will help me throughout finishing my thesis at SCAD and going to the next chapter of my career towards a PhD in Transition Design." – Eugenia Perez, UX/UI Designer, Pittsburgh, PA

"Before I started going to your writing groups, I found it hard to find time to sit down and write my story. I've always had a lot of ideas but organizing them into a narrative was something I wasn't used to. However, as the weeks went by, I became more motivated to produce something I was happy with. I even learned screenwriting format and wrote two whole episodes for the series I came up with. I'm a completely different writer than I was a few months ago and I think I owe a big part of that to just being able to get together with peers and talk about storytelling every week." – Jordan Milligan, Creative Writer & Animation Student, Savannah, GA
