Hello! My name is Carrie. I'm a writer and editor who's on a mission to make stories better.

I'm doing this because I believe humans invented stories before we invented fire. That's how important they are to us. I think stories shape not only how we understand the world but how we see ourselves in it, and that’s why it’s so important we get them right.

As both a writer and editor, my philosophy to do this is simple: good writing is good logic. It's not luck or inspiration or magic, it's understanding what you want to say and then figuring out how to say it. I've spent the better part of my life learning how to do this, and I'm here because I want to help you do it too.

Write It Live!

I've been wanting to do an event like this for a while, and I'm so excited it's finally happening. I'm leading two guided-writing sessions this summer out in the community with the Muse Writers Center in Norfolk. For each session, I'll share creative writing prompts to spark your imagination and get you started. Then, you'll follow those ideas and write whatever you want.
